Casey Rodarmor deploys the Ordinals protocol on Bitcoin mainnet, enabling inscriptions on individual satoshis. This foundational layer makes Bitmap possible. The Bitcoin NFT era begins.

The pseudonymous creator known as Bitoshi Blockamoto — a deliberate play on "Satoshi Nakamoto" — joins Twitter/X and begins exploring Ordinals theory. The conceptual seeds of Bitmap are being planted.

Bitoshi Blockamoto proposes Bitmap Theory publicly: every Bitcoin block is a "digital district" in the metaverse, every transaction within it a "parcel" of land. The concept spreads rapidly across Ordinals communities. Early adopters begin inscribing blocks immediately. This is the official genesis date of the Bitmap ecosystem.

Within days, community members are experimenting with Bitmaps. "Sub X Lands" clubs emerge — collectors racing to claim low-number blocks. The first 1,000 blocks become instant trophy assets. Over 300,000 inscriptions are recorded in weeks.

Blockamoto announces the Bitmap District Canvas — a system where each District can be visually rendered based on its block's transaction data. Parcels within the District form a unique visual map derived from actual Bitcoin block data. The first glimpse of Bitmap as visual real estate.

Ordinals Wallet introduces Blocktributes — a system allowing verified block owners to add creative attributes to their Bitmap. Only the holder of a block's inscription can build on it, verified via Bitcoin's UTXO set and digital signatures. This pioneered builder-ownership in the Bitmap metaverse.

The Recursiverse (RCSV) team — one of the most prolific developer groups in Bitcoin ordinals — begins building infrastructure on Bitmap. They launch the BRC-420 protocol, propose the Bitmap Explorer, and begin work on a full metaverse browser. Their Bitmap browser eventually captures over 95% of ecosystem traffic.

Blockamoto publishes the official Bitmap Whitepaper at gitbook.bitmap.land. It defines the full theoretical framework: Districts, Parcels, spatial mapping of Bitcoin data, vbytes as depth, value as area. The community is invited to peer-review the document.

Bitmap reaches 31,100 unique holders, surpassing Decentraland and The Sandbox to become the metaverse project with the highest holder count in all of Web3. A historic milestone — Bitcoin's metaverse now has more individual landowners than any Ethereum-based metaverse.

BRC-420 — the asset protocol built on Bitmap by RCSV — surpasses $260M in market cap across 20,000+ independent addresses. Over 100 teams have issued assets on the protocol including game characters, DLCs, music, HTML scripts and more. Cumulative royalties exceed $10M USD.

Leading crypto VC firm ABCDE Capital publicly announces its investment in Bitmap.tech (RCSV's company arm), citing Bitmap's unique position as the only native Bitcoin metaverse with strong holder consensus, developer activity, and a growing DApp ecosystem. OKX also provides seed funding.

Bitcoin's fourth halving occurs, driving increased attention to the Bitcoin ecosystem. Bitmap is featured at Bitcoin Asia in Hong Kong. Bitmap.tech has the most influential Bitcoin layer-2 asset community among all Bitcoin L2s. Merlin Chain integrates Bitmap Game and Bitmap War natively.

Blockamoto announces Atlas OS — a fully on-chain, inscription-based operating system compatible with Bitmap and rare sats at atlas.land. Built with a modular architecture, it represents Bitmap Theory's most ambitious application: an operating system embedded permanently in Bitcoin.

The Bitmap ecosystem continues to evolve with new indexers, Layer 2 integrations, gaming projects, and developer tools. With 894,000+ claimable blocks and a growing builder community, Bitmap remains Bitcoin's primary metaverse standard.
